The Wilderness
In December 2006, Blue Gum Farm purchased a magnificent property just seven kilometres away named ‘The Wilderness’.
Comprising some 300 acres of rich fertile creek flats rising to granite hill pastures, one of the many attributes of this beautiful property is its exceptional water supply. With a 14 megalitre irrigation licence from the Faithfull’s Creek and two magnificent 55 megalitre licensed dams, all connected by underground piping, this property has a long history of supplying quality lucerne.
Since becoming part of Blue Gum Farm, ‘The Wilderness’ has produced all of its lucerne and pasture hay requirements and has afforded the business the opportunity to further rest paddocks at Blue Gum Farm through the use of three beautifully fenced paddocks constructed there recently. The Wilderness is also home to a 300 strong merino ewe flock.
These sheep must surely pinch themselves each and every day while marvelling at the spectacular Balmattum Valley views they have from the hill country they graze upon which sits just above the elegant, granite stone home and irrigated hay fields.
