Blue Gum Farm reared and sold Viking Legend covered himself in glory when running third in Saturday’s Victoria Derby.

The Gai Waterhouse trainee is as brave as they come and he struck the front momentarily in the straight before staying on for third behind Monaco Consul and Extra Zero.

Blue Gum Farm are consigning a brother to Viking Legend to the 2010 Melbourne Premier Sale and he is a fine example of the type of stock Elvstroem is leaving. In the words of our yearling manager Tahnee Griffith, “He’s a very nice colt, lots of quality and a great attitude.”

Innocent Baby is to visit Elvstroem again this season so the classic form shown by Viking Legend is even more pleasing.

Scenic Shot’s win in the L K S Mackinnon Stakes (Gr 1) was a great result for breeder Terry Board, who is a great friend of Blue Gum Farm and has his mare Slipshot on farm at present. Slipshot is a sister to Scenic Shot and recently foaled her first foal, a colt by Churchill Downs in October and has been covered by Elvstroem.
