Just one week after siring two stakeswinners in 24 hours, Elvstroem added his first Group 1 performer to his record when Viking Legend finished a brave third in extremely testing conditions in the Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick on Saturday behind the Mike Moroney-trained Monaco Consul.

Ironically on Sunday Moroney turned provider when Viking Hero (3 c Gypsy Dollar) proved too good for his rivals in winning at Benalla on his second start to become the 10th winner this season for his sire.
