With the distances of the three-year-old races stretching out it is pleasing to see that the stock of Elvstroem are appreciating that extra trip.
This afternoon at Sandown Park, Elvstroem’s daughter’s DELIVER THE DREAM and EL SPARK fought out the finish of the $30,000 Charge Forward@Arrowfield Handicap over 1800m.
Under 58kg, Deliver The Dream was prominent all the way and then stayed on bravely in the straight to hold the final rally from El Spark, who was burdened with top-weight of 59kg in the heavy conditions. “She still has plenty to learn but I think she might be up to stakes class,” Moody’s stable foreman Tony Haydon said of Deliver The Dream.
“She’s a reasonable lump of a filly but once she fills out, she’s going to be a handy type. With her breeding, she’s always going to improve with age. “I’m not sure what Peter (Moody) is going to do whether to spell her or not but she’s going places.”
Deliver The Dream was bred by good friends of Blue Gum in Doug and Helen Harrison, out of their former good racemare Fayrouz, who is now two winners from two to the track. Elvstroem’s fee in 2010 is a very tempting $16,500 inclusive of gst.
