ELVIS IN HONG KONG

2 Janurary 2010

One of the nicest yearlings sold at auction from the first-crop of Elvstroem was sold in New Zealand, a handsome colt out of La Camille. Selling for $NZ350,000, the colt, named BRAVE HEART, is now a gelding and is in Hong Kong under the care of trainer Paul O’Sullivan.

BRAVE HEART looks to have plenty of ability too judged on an impressive win at Sha Tin on Friday. Racing for just the second time, Brave Heart had to overcome several bouts of interference to win his race over 1200m but there is no doubting his potential.

“He just has a bombproof temperament this horse, and it will take him a long way,” O’Sullivan told Patrick Allen of the South China Morning Post.

“He trialed well, and if you watched him work in the morning you’d say he could be anything, but we’ll just let him go through his races and see where he gets to before we get carried away.

“He was bought as a yearling in New Zealand for NZ$350,000 [HK$1.97 million] and is obviously a very nicely bred son of Elvstroem, so it is nice that he has adapted to Hong Kong racing so readily.”
