SOME EARLY OLYMPIC SPIRIT

Well it may be some 166 days to the London 2012 Olympics, not that we are counting down but the Olympic spirit is living on through our Champion in Elvstroem, himself named after Olympic Champion Paul Elvstrom.

Elvstroem carried such a name with great asteem winning Five Group 1's along the way and amassing over $5 Million in earnings. It would appear that the Olympic spirit is rubbing off in 2012 with the progeny of Elvstroem being first past the post in a variety of locations, over varying distances and most of which indicating the best lay ahead. Elvstroem sits well and truly entrenched in the Top 20 Australian Sires by Winners in 2011-2012, recently he has been responsible for:

22nd February 2012 - Shanghai Warrior wins impressively at Sandown over 1600m for Pat Hyland and Steven Arnold, Four career starts for two wins and two seconds. Hyland has a high opinion of the 3YO whom is still amongst entries for the 2012 Australian Guineas.

19th February 2012 - Ellery wins by 1-3/4 lengths on debut at Bendigo over 1600m for Robert Hickmott and Lloyd Williams.

18th February 2012 - Hardbreak Hotel wins at Warwick Farm for Guy Walter and Nathan Berry, in the process making it win number five and taking his earnings over $160,000.

11th February 2012 - Go The Knuckle wins very impressively at Morphettville for Mark Minervini and Shayne Cahill. Talented 3YO whom has registered two wins from four starts.

These are just to name a few with Elvstroem having amassed some 59 individual winners so far in the 2011-2012 season whom between them have won some 74 races. Fingers crossed the Olympic spirit can continue.
