Churchill Downs continued his strong form in the Second Season Sire Title Race during December 2011, bringing plenty of festive season joy to all concerned.

Winners in the form of Chinni at Moe, Trancing at Cranbourne, Kentucky Dreaming at Warrnambool, Barrett's Mark at Echuca have left the cracking son of Danehill well poised for his ascent in 2012.

Under the tutelage of some fine trainers in the form of John McArdle, Nigel Blackiston, Bevan Laming and Robbie Griffiths and with all horses being lightly raced, the best lay ahead for both them and Churchill Downs.

It was the win of Barrett's Mark that appeared most impressive of all, looking very talented but green and only having her second career start she saluted in the Border Inn Fillies & Mares Maiden (1200m) at Echuca last week.

“She’s a promising filly, she still has a lot to learn,” said Lisa Cropp. “When she puts it all together she will be a good filly, she’s doing it on raw ability right now.”

The win makes Barrett’s Mark the 12th winner this season for Blue Gum Farm stallion Churchill Downs (Danehill - Silken Whisper, by Diesis) to put him clear on the Second-season Sire listing in Victoria by winners ahead of Artie Schiller (11) and Written Tycoon (9).
