With spring in the air its the time of year where good horses are in abundance. In particular country tracks at this time of year are generally the scene for some well bred youngsters to kick off their racing careers with much higher aspirations in mind.

This has been the case today at Echuca and the locals didn't have to wait long with the first race being a hotly contested maiden, The Border Inn Hotel Maiden Plate over 1100m. A 3YO Elvstroem Filly by the name of Miss Rendina had big support, being backed from $10 into $4.40 on course and the money was spot on. Andrew Mallyon gave Miss Rendina time to find her feet and gradually got the filly into the heat of battle approaching the home turn, despite racing greenly the filly finished too strongly to win going away by 3/4's of a length.

Miss Rendina is well bred being by Elvstroem out of former good Melbourne mare Miss Marion who herself has already thrown G2 winning mare Pinker Pinker. With a lovely pedigree and an abundance of talent the only way is up for Miss Rendina whom was passed in at the 2010 Premier Yearling Sale at $105,000.
