Today at Warwick Farm Shared Reflections stamped herself as a genuine Golden Slipper contender with a devastating win in the Sweet Embrace Stakes. In doing so she gave Umatilla his 32nd stakeswinner.

Nash Rawiller settled the filly well back in the 1200m G3 event but upon straightening for the judge she quickly burst through to win running away by a length. Today's win also means that Shared Reflections is now assured a run in the 2011 Golden Slipper as she is now exempt from the ballot.

Today's impressive win also highlights the art of inbreeding to superior mares as a breeding practice. In terms of Shared Reflections this inbreeding doesn't come much better as she has a double cross 2 x 3 to the great broodmare Dancing Show (USA), being by Umatilla from the Hurricane Sky mare Ulap. One suspects though that this successful double cross is only going to become more prevalent in the years to come.

We at Blue Gum Farm in fact have a lovely Umatilla colt heading to the 2011 Autumn Yearling Sale bred on this same double cross. Lot 3 is a 3/4 brother to Umrum and is bred on the same theory through the wonderful Dancing Show (USA), Best in Show (USA) family. We look forward to Golden Slipper day on April 2 and Shared Reflections showcasing the wonderful deeds of Umatilla and this wonderful family.
