Not only was Canford Cliffs a Champion on the race track, he is also a Champion in the breeding shed. Standing his second season at Blue Gum Farm, Canford Cliffs is not only stamping his first crop of foals with great bone, fantastic shape and dominant bay colouring, he is also consistently getting his second book of mares pregnant! Blue Gum Farm Broodmare Manager Ian Horwood summed it up well by saying “Canford Cliffs is the ultimate professional in the breeding shed, just as he was on the racetrack. He loves his work and he is very good at it.”
“Pregnancies are the name of the game here at Blue Gum. There are no yearlings without foals and no foals without pregnancies. Canford Cliffs virility and fertility are a great bonus for breeders - less costs, less mares foaling later in the season and less mares missing all together. The added costs to breeders of mares missing are enormous and with a challenging market place, eliminating unnecessary cost is vital. Canford Cliffs is making everyone smile, the mares and the breeders,” remarked Blue Gum Farm Principal Philip Campbell recently.
With world-class foals now arriving in both hemispheres breeders have the knowledge that, not only is Canford Cliffs wonderfully fertile, he also produces a great looking foal. These facts see breeders who have foals by this five time Group One winning racehorse coming back to him again this season.
