Saturday sees a very interesting runner at Flemington in the Cap D’Antibes Stakes. Chloe In Paris is that runner and both her sire and dam had their biggest wins down the Flemington straight and both were unbeaten at headquarters.
Exceed And Excel was Australia’s Champion Sprinter of 2004 with the pinnacle of his career being a great victory in the Group 1 VRC Newmarket Handicap where he defeated Titanic Jack and Regimental Gal. He has since proved himself a remarkable sire in both Hemispheres producing a host of outstanding gallopers.
The dam of Chloe In Paris is the Group winner Innovation Girl who counts her best win as a victory in the Group 2 VRC Ascot Vale Stakes where she defeated Cool Trent and our old friend Titanic Jack. Her only other trip to Flemington saw her again beat the boys. She won the Group 3 VRC Debonair Stakes where she overcame the Australian Guineas winner Delago Brom. In all the daughter of Rubiton won on 10 occasions and earned just shy of a million dollars. Her daughter Chloe In Paris was very impressive on debut when beaten only half a length in the Quezette Stakes at Caulfield by the smart Kiss A Rose and now, at the track she was born to succeed on, she may well prove the one to beat.
Bred and raced by successful owner/breeder Des Pope, Chloe In Paris comes from a long line of talented horses including the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Incumbent, the Group winner of 8 races in South Africa Royal Chalon and of course the Doncaster Handicap winner Soho Square. Innovation Girl now resides at Blue Gum Farm where she has a big strong yearling colt, also by Exceed And Excel (pictured), who will be offered for sale next year. She has recently foaled a lovely filly by Champion Sire Lonhro and has been bred back to Exceed And Excel this season. The steady stream of winners bred by Des Pope looks certain to continue with the likes of these.Back
