Another Group Winner

Another Group Winner

The number of stakes winners in Red Arrow’s already ultra impressive female family grew again over the weekend when talented 3yo colt Aussies Love Sport won the Group Three Ming Dynasty Quality at Randwick.

Owned by Segenhoe Stud, Aussies Love Sport is under the guidance of champion trainer Gai Waterhouse. After showing promise early on in his two year old career, Aussies Love Sport had admirers in the pre-race market for the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic. He has come back bigger and better as a three year old winning his last two starts. On Saturday he was ridden by champion jockey Jim Cassidy whose comment after the race was “Good effort and will improve. I like him, he's a very nice horse. Backing him up next week in the Golden Rose wouldn't hurt him because he's tough and will keep improving.” (source www.racenet.com.au)  With options through the spring he could run in Saturday’s Group One Golden Rose or head to Melbourne on a Caulfield Guineas trail.

Red Arrow is a son of Lady Jakeo, the multiple Group One winning Last Tycoon filly who excelled over the sprint course. Lady Jakeo was precocious enough to win Victoria's premier two year old race, the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield, before training on to win the Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley. At stud Lady Jakeo has produced our Group winner Red Arrow, Hong Kong stakes winner Able Choice and a Brisbane two year old winner named Miss Jakeo. While not scaling the same heights as her stakes winning siblings on the racetrack, Miss Jakeo has certainly done her part at stud. She had already produced Group One Oakleigh Plate winner Mrs Onassis, the Melbourne Group winning sprinters Miss Judgement and Fifth Avenue Lady before this racing season during which Aussies Love Sport has become her fourth group winner.

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Red Arrow’s first crop two year olds at the racetrack this season.
