Another Group One winner for Turffontein's sireline

Another Group One winner for Turffontein's sireline

We have been extolling the virtues of Johannesburg as a sire of sires for a couple of seasons now. The results his sons have been achieving on the world’s racetracks have made it easy for us to do so. On Sunday the 18th of August in Deauville France, Johannesburg’s son Scat Daddy produced yet another Group One winner when his highly impressive two year old son, No Nay Never, won the time honoured Prix Morny.

Undefeated in three starts now, No Nay Never started his career with a win at Keeneland in Kentucky back in April of this year. He then crossed the Atlantic and jumped straight to Group company which proved no obstacle for him at all. Lining up at the Royal Ascot meeting in June he accounted for a very smart field in race record time in the Group Two Norfolk Stakes. From Group Two to Group One and the result was the same in the Morny. We don’t think we have heard the last of No Nay Never either!

Scat Daddy has now sired 12 individual Stakes winners, including two Group One winners, in his short career at stud. Scat Daddy and Turffontein are the only multiple Group One winners sired by Johannesburg. Scat Daddy beat his own age in his wins at the highest level whereas Turffontein’s Group One wins were in open age races. Are we excited to see the first Turffontein’s grace our race tracks in the coming months? Yes we are.
