Five time Group One winning miler Canford Cliffs had his first Australian mare in foal sell at the recent Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale. On the back of some very strong results for mares in foal to him in the UK late last year, the very talented racemare Tempest Tost was sold carrying a 5 October service by Canford Cliffs and realised $120,000. A winner of four races, including the GCTC Magic Millions 3YO Trophy, Tempest Tost is a half sister to Group One VRC Salinger Stakes winner Notoire and dual Sydney stakes winner Well Known. She is also a half sister to the dam of multiple stakes winner and Group One placed Happy Hippy.
Those UK mares in foal are now producing the first of the Canford Cliffs progeny and reports and photographs of them out of the UK are telling a consistently good story. From the Hail To Reason sireline, ultra successful in this part of the world through the likes of More Than Ready and his son Sebring and Red Ransom and his sons Charge Forward and Domesday, we are anxiously awaiting the first of the Australian Canford Cliffs foals this spring. Canford Cliffs returns to Blue Gum Farm in 2013.
