We are delighted to introduce the newest member of our team, Christopher Kent, who will be working in the area of stallion nominations and client relations.
At 24 years of age, Chris has packed a lot in to his career with horses so far. After completing his Higher School Certificate in 2006 at Broughton Anglican College in Campbelltown, NSW, Chris spent two years at Bellerive Stud in Scone. During his time at Bellerive he did two seasons foal watch and two yearling sale preparations, attending both the Sydney Easter and Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sales. In an effort to further his practical knowledge, Chris spent 12 months working with Scone based trainer Greg Bennett in 2009. He was awarded the Australian Thoroughbred Scholarship into Marcus Oldham College in 2010 where he graduated at a Distinction level in the Horse Business Management diplomacy course. As well as graduating, Chris was awarded the Lanwades Scholarship which included 12 months working for Lanwades Stud in the UK and Ireland. During his time at Lanwades Chris worked in the covering shed on the UK stud and assisted in the preparation of the stud’s yearling draft on the Irish stud.
It was on his return to Australia from the UK that we at Blue Gum Farm first came in to contact with Chris. He assisted with the presentation of our draft at the 2012 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale and created a great impression with all of us here then. Chris had a desire to pursue his interest in dealing with people within the industry and so returned to Greg Bennett’s racing stable where he has filled the role of Racing Manager up until his appointment here at Blue Gum Farm recently.
Chris is a driven individual who is passionate about the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry. He is looking forward to developing himself further working with current and future clients of the farm and existing staff members.Back
