Stakes winner #7 for Elvstroem

Shanghai Warrior became Elvstroem's seventh individual Stakes winner with another impressive victory in last Saturday's Group 3 Aurie's Star Handicap at Flemington. Track specialist Golden Archer, who was gunning for four straight at Flemington, was sent out a short priced favourite but proved no match for Shanghai Warrior over the concluding stages of the 1200 metre event.

Registering his fifth win from just nine career starts, Shanghai Warrior impressed all with his professional performance. "He will continue to improve as the races get longer", commented his astute trainer Pat Hyland after the race. "I've had some very nice horses in my care in the past but I believe this horse is the best I have trained. He's had some maturity issues in the past but has come back this time free of them and he just has a wonderful attitude. Races like the Rupert Clarke and the Toorak Handicap are upcoming goals and we'll see where we are at then", continued Hyland.

The Guy Walter trained Hardbreak Hotel rounded off a terrific day for Elvstroem with a first up victory over 1100 metres at Warwick Farm. Elvstroem's career progeny earnings are now through $8,000,000. At a fee of just $4400 he represents fantastic value.
