Come Breeding With Blue Gum Farm...

Dear Breeder, The major yearling sales have concluded and the new breeding season is fast approaching. The Australian yearling market remains vibrant due mainly to the growing strength of the $100,000 to $400,000 zone. International interest is adding to domestic demand and driving the strength of this section of the market. Australian horses continue to do well internationally which should see this growth in demand continuing. It is difficult for smaller breeders to access the bloodstock that can produce yearlings to suit this market as mares are expensive and the standard of production and presentation is of the highest caliber. Blue Gum Farm is making it possible for all those interested in breeding top class thoroughbreds to get involved.

We have acquired three mares that we have great faith in. A Stakes winner from America in foal to Fastnet Rock’s exciting son Wanted, a Group 2 performer with a foal by the Group 1 producer Charge Forward and a young city winning half sister to a TJ Smith Stakes winner in foal to the Golden Slipper winner Sebring.

The mares will be mated to the most appropriate commercial stallions wherever they may be within Australasia with the view of producing highly appealing sale yearlings. An annual review of each mare will be undertaken to establish mating plans and other strategy, including the potential sale of the mare, if it maximises returns to the investors. Maximising investor returns is what this exercise is all about.

Attached is all the information on the mares. We hope you will join us in this exciting venture.
If you would like to inquire further please feel free to contact us.

Kind Regards,
Paul Guy

Viking Turf Belle

VTB is the winner of 5 races, placed 8 times and earned $193,319. She won her first start as a two year old at Morphetville before having a spell. Resuming at the same track as a three year old she again saluted. She went on to record two wins at Moonee Valley as well as a victory at Sandown. She also placed in the Group 2 Rose of Kingston Stakes at Flemington behind the tremendous Bellini Rose and the Group 1 winner Absolute Glam. Her trainer Jason Warren, of Bel Sprinter fame, believes she should have won this race and only bad luck stood in her way. She was locked away on the rail and couldn’t get out. We have all heard these stories but there is no doubt that VTB was a tough consistent mare with a great deal of ability.

Sorellina was a seriously talented racehorse in the John O’Shea stable. She won her first two starts in decisive fashion before going amiss at her third start and she was subsequently retired to stud. She defeated a field of 13 on debut at Gosford by 2.3 lengths. She was then put away for the spring. After a strong trial win by 3.3 lengths over the good city winner Drinks All Round and the Group 1 performer Pane In The Glass, Sorellina went to Canterbury first up and defeated Magita (who then won her next two starts in Sydney) and the 4 time city winner Nash Rambler. A black type career was well and truly on the cards for Sorellina. Unfortunately she went amiss at her 3rd start and being the beginning of the breeding season she was retired to stud.
