Elvstroem forging a path
The Elvstroem bandwagon continues to gather momentum. As this issue went to press Elvstroem had sired five winners – four of them metropolitan winners highlighted by Frank Tagg’s high-class colt Carrara, winner of the Doomben Slipper (Listed) and placed in the QTC Sires Produce Stakes and Australia Post Stakes.

One of his winners – and Blue Gum Farm sale graduate – Viking Legend is back in training with Gai Waterhouse and Darryl Sherer was very kindly invited into Tulloch Lodge by Kate Grimwade to view Elvstroem’s first winner. “He looks very well and has matured into a lovely colt.” Sherer says.

Elvstroem has made an extremely promising start to his stud career, occupying a place in the top 10 by earnings and with a better winner-to-runner ratio than other first-crop sires like Fastnet Rock and Dane Shadow.
