Those that have weanlings by Churchill Downs already know but for those that haven’t seen any members of his first crop as yet, take note; respected judges are talking them up! A precocious individual himself, Churchill Downs has produced a wonderful first crop of foals, so much so that the repeat business from broodmare owners last year was excellent. Churchill Downs produced 95 live foals in 2008 and has 97 mares ready to foal again this season. And there is already plenty of interest in the stallion again for this his third year at stud.

A Stakes winning, Group 1 placed two-year-old by Danehill who went on to win at Group 2 level and place at Group 1 level at three, Churchill Downs has the looks, the pedigree and the race record to succeed at stud. And now he is producing the article!

The third season for any stallion can be a tough one with breeders “sitting on the fence” and waiting to see what does or does not transpire with his fortunes. We firmly believe that those breeders canny enough to join us and use Churchill Downs again this season will be looking at terrific upside in 2012 when the resulting progeny will be yearlings.
