Breeders looking for a proven stallion representing unbeatable value this season need look no further than our very own Umatilla. Seemingly not a week goes by without him getting a winner and versatility and durabilty are hallmarks of his offspring.
Sunday, October 5th, saw the winning reappearance of the highly-promising Heath Connors-trained four-year-old Chasm, who defeated a strong field in grand style in a $50,000 Sprint at Benalla. Making his first start since returning from Queensland where he was a leading fancy for the Queensland Guineas until illness forced his withdrawal, Chasm burst through late in the straight to score comfortably in the fashion of a horse destined for bigger things. "To do what he did without getting touched with the whip was outstanding," says Connors, who is in no doubt about Chasm's ability. "He's definitely a Group horse and he's at least five lengths better than he was last time in." High praise indeed for a horse that has won five of eight and is poised to emulate another of Umatilla's chestnut sons in Valedictum by taking the Emirates Stakes (Gr 1) on the final day of the Flemington Spring Carnival. "He's a very exciting horse who is just getting better." according to Connors, who has done an outstanding job in nursing Chasm back to health after the mystery illness that curtailed his three-year-old career. Chasm has an interesting pedigree that will delight theorists. Out of the Flemington winning Al Hareb mare Arabian Poppy, Chasm is inbred 4 x 5 to the blue hen Best In Show, the third dam of Umatilla. Umatilla has already shown his worth in duplications of Best In Show through the stakes winnrs Kishkat and Our Quivira and Chasm looks set to add his name to that this year. The bottom line
is that Umatilla represents unprecedented value at a service fee of
just $5,500. Whilst his record speaks for itself we would encourage
any breeders that are seeking value, pedigree and a proven track record
to make the trip to Euroa to see Umatilla. Hale and hearty, Umatilla
is in fine fettle and he must surely rank as one of the best value stallions
in Australia. Simply contact our office to make an appointment. |
